12th Annual Danny Neale Golf Day

On Saturday June 28th Graham and Rita Neale organized the annual Danny Neale Bowl competition for members of Canford School Golf Club and guests in order to raise money for Leukaemia Busters in memory of their grandson, Danny. Even though the forecast wasn’t good the 69 players enjoyed a sunny day except for the last two teams of players late in the afternoon who got caught in a tropical downpour and who got absolutely soaked. Over 80 people were seated in the marquee for the BBQ in a wonderful atmosphere. It was certainly cozy but everyone complimented on there being a great atmosphere. There was even a fly past by the Red Arrows during the afternoon and Graham Neale and Alan Vivian sweated over a hot BBQ for 3 hours – and what a tasty BBQ it was too.

There were prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for guests and members but the worthy winners of the Danny Neale Bowl were Ann Loveless and Patrick Singer who have the pleasure of looking after the beautiful trophy for six months each. Well done to them (and Ann’s astonished face was an absolute picture) The prizes were presented by the Club Captain Rob Jones and Lady Captain Ann Moore who also played in the competition.

Rita commented; ‘Dr’s David and Bee Flavell gave us an update on the research being done at Southampton Hospital for Leukaemia Busters and it’s heartening to know how much progress has been made over the 25 years since its conception.’     A total of £1237.15 was raised on the day for Leukaemia Busters.  Thank you.
