To celebrate 25 years of Leukaemia Busters and their achievements during that time with their research we held an Anniversary Ball on Saturday 11th October. This event was held at the Grand Harbour Hotel, Southampton SO15 1AG. The evening was hosted by our Patron, David Gower OBE and included a Champagne VIP Reception or Sparkling Wine Reception, three-course meal, Auctions, Raffle and great music from Madison Heights.
One of the highlights of the evening was a 25th Anniversary Cake which was cut by Bee Flavell, ably assisted by David Flavell and present and past trustees, Rob Sutcliffe, Beverley Robinson-Grindey, Julie Daws, Gerald Butler and Charity Patron David Gower.
293 people attended the Ball and at the moment the event has raised over £35,000 after expenses.
Leukaemia Busters were delighted to be able to offer some truly amazing items in the Grand and Silent Auctions and would like to thank all the companies and individuals who have made this possible.
The Grand Auction featured not one but two Thai Holidays, thanks to the generosity of Thai Airways, MBK Holdings, Katathani Collection of Resorts, Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn and Blue Elephant International Ltd. See all donors of Grand Auction items listed below.
The Silent Auction items featured items as diverse as a collection of memorabilia from Southampton FC, Afternoon Tea for Two and a Try Dive Session. For all donors of Silent Auction items please see below.
Running through out the event there was also a Raffle and prizes ranged from a Harrods Pamper Hamper, a Canon Printer and Camera to Thai Meal Vouchers and a ride of the Swanage Steam Railway. A list of the companies donating prizes is below.
A feature of the evening, introduced by our Master of Ceremonies, Mike Osman was a Fundraising Pledge in which a large number of guests undertook to raise £100 for Leukaemia Busters in the next 12 months.
