Fundraiser Extraordinaire
Andy Piller – Hampshire fireman and sports fanatic Andy Piller has been raising funds for Leukemia Busters every year since 2011, the year after he lost his best friend RJ Williams with leukaemia. Besides raising money for the charity by running Marathons and participating in extreme sports events Andy has also organised a total of 14 golf days in memory of his friend RJ almost every year and raised in total over £52,000. If ever there was a better friend, then Andy must be the one.
Hampshire Motor Cross
Hampshire Motorcross club have supported Leukaemia Busters since 1997
Hampshire Motocross (HMX) have organised and run several large motocross events over the years that have raised a staggering total for the charity. Their most recent race meeting event was held in July 2023 and on this occasion raised a staggering £25,000. Our thanks go to all the organisers at HMX for their unstinting support over the years.
Rotary Support
Rotary clubs from along the South Coast and beyond have lent their support to Leukaemia Busters since our earliest beginnings in 1989. That support has continued with clubs in Southampton, Basingstoke, Portsmouth, Poole, and Bournemouth to name just some making valuable contributions that have enabled our research over the years. The most recent has come from the Rotary Club of Bournemouth who since 2006 have adopted the charity to receive an annual donation of £1,000 from their coffers. We thank them and all their fellow rotarians for their generous and invaluable support over the many years.
Busker Breezy
John “Breezy” Breeze has been busking in all weathers for Leukaemia Busters in St Albans and Padstow for over 25 years and during that time has raised over £95,000 for the charity. His remarkable effort hasn’t gone un-noticed where he is a permanent and instantly recognisable figure along the harbour front in Padstow.
