The Ryvita Ramblers 3 Peaks Challenge

On Saturday 27th May 18 workmates took on their personal challenge of a lifetime and set off to climb the 3 peaks (Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis) in 24 hours.   Some, we are told, had never owned walking boots before so this was to be a huge challenge.

Ryvita Ramblers Snowdon

In the words of Emma Hawkins:

Ben Nevis, Scotland : The first mountain. (although it felt like we had already climbed a mountain by the time we had travelled from Bournemouth to Scotland!) We had to start this mountain earlier than expected as a storm was rolling in over the highland and we did not want to get caught in it! This led to a very muggy climb up the largest mountain in the challenge. Although the spirits were high as we summited around 14:00

Scarfell Pike, England: as we came off Ben Nevis we had separated in to three groups so the time we all climbed Scarfell pike was different. However, we all climbed it in the dark and in the rain. I think the majority of the group would say this was the most difficult mountain as it was hard to navigate and very un-rewarding as you reach the top and have no view to look over

Snowdon, Wales:  The Last One!! By the time we got to this mountain, however many cereal bars we consumed, there was no more energy left to be had in our bodies. But the knowledge in our minds of the people we were helping was enough to power ourselves to the top. Celebrations consisted of sitting down and enjoying the view of the top of the clouds and the sun poured down on to us. The walk down was slow and steady but more than anything painful! (the picture above of 6 people on the summit).

Our best wishes and thanks go to Emma, Patrick, Laura, Callum, Helen, Steve, Greg,  Julian, Pete, Agnes, Justin, Gabby, Kevin and Laura.  Guide Martin and Drivers Harry, Tracy and Karl.  Together they have raised £1380.00 so far in sponsorship.  You can still sponsor the Ryvita Ramblers on their challenge here
