Leukaemia Busters Scientific Directors, Drs David and Sopsamorn (Bee) Flavell will be cycling the RideLondon-Essex 100 on Sunday 29th May for  Leukaemia Busters. They said:

We want to do this as A Double Tribute. Firstly, in appreciation of all those individuals, companies and organisations who over the years have supported our life-saving research through Leukaemia Busters. We are also dedicating this challenge to the memory of our only son Simon who we lost to Leukaemia 32 years ago at the age of 10.

Simon Flavell (1980-1990)

David & Bee both registered as official participants for the 2022 RideLondon-Essex 100 where they will be joined by over 20,000 other riders.  The iconic 100-mile distance is the longest challenge ride in the RideLondon programme. They will set off from Victoria Embankment in central London to head out on closed roads into Essex via the historic Epping Forest, pass Ongar, Fyfield, Leaden Roding, Great Dunmow, Felsted and Chelmsford before heading through Writtle and back towards Ongar then back to central London via Chigwell Row, Woodford Green and Stratford before finishing under the first arch of the iconic Tower Bridge.

A final word from them:

Taking on the RideLondon-Essex 100 mile challenge is a tall order as neither of us have done anything like this before but we will do our very best to succeed. We are very grateful to Giant/Liv Cycling UK for loaning us two high end road bikes to help us along our way. We’re hoping our cycling efforts will help raise funds to conduct more vital research in our laboratories that will save more lives in the future”
