Dr Sopsamorn (Bee) U Flavell BSc PhD – Executive Scientific Director
Doctors David and Bee Flavell are the charity’s co-scientific directors. Both are fully qualified biomedical research scientists who have worked in the field of cancer research for more than 35 years. Together and individually they have published numerous papers in high quality international scientific and medical journals.
Their role is to shape the strategy for the charity’s research programme and to ensure that this is effectively carried out through research conducted in our own laboratories at Southampton General Hospital and through collaborations with other scientists at home and abroad.
David and Bee first met in 1975 whilst pursuing their PhD work at The University of Sheffield Medical School and have worked together almost continuously since then. David is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and was recently conferred the title of Honorary Fellow of Liverpool John Moores University for his contribution to cancer research over his long career.
